Josh and Steph grew up near St. Paul, MN and met through mutual friends and started dating towards the end of high school. They both love to travel so Josh thought it would be perfect to ask Steph to marry him while they were on vacation with his family in Hawaii. Steph and Josh were living in Oklahoma city while they were engaged so they made a few trips back home to Minnesota to tour wedding venues and they fell in love with the Orchestra Hall the second they walked in. They had recently renovated it so it was modern, spacious, and just beautiful. They immediately both envisioned getting married there. They wanted the overall feel of the wedding to be elegant, modern, and classy – but still low-key enough that everyone knew they could relax and have a fun night. I think that Orchestra Hall was such a perfect wedding reception venue to accomplish this!
Another special and unique part of their day was that Steph wore her mom’s wedding dress. Before shopping for dresses her mom had brought over her wedding dress and had her try it on. It was a very 80’s dress – shiny white satin, huge puffy long sleeves, a full mesh collar with a beaded choker and probably 10 feet of train but Steph loved the beading and it fit her so well. The moment she put it on they both started crying. Her mom graciously suggested that she wear her dress and alter it/cut it up to make it her own. This was one of her favorite parts of the day – it was so special to her to be able to wear her mom’s dress and getting it reconstructed by Brenda at Amazing Alterations made it her dream dress. Brenda did such an amazing job and I loved how the bottom flowed when Steph twirled. It was perfect! Here are some of my favorites from their amazing wedding day!
