Curtis and Laura went to high school together with similar friend groups, but they didn’t start dating until college. Laura was convinced that they couldn’t date because it would have really complicated their friend group, but Curtis was determined to make her his girlfriend. Eventually they both realized that the connection they had wasn’t something that they could ignore and they went for it. They both went to different colleges so they dated long distance throughout school. Summer was their favorite time because they got to spend almost every minute together. They both worked at Laura’s parent’s diner in Stillwater, The Oasis, and her dad put them on the exact same shifts. He dishwashed and she served – it was about as glamorous as it could get but all that matter was that they got to be together!
Their love grew, and on 10/20/14, Curtis proposed. He re-created their first date, carving pumpkins. Laura was taking her time to carve and kept trying to sneak a peek at Curt’s because he was being really suspicious and carving REALLY fast. Once he was done, he went out on her patio to try and light it but quickly realized he forgot a candle. He was out there for about 10 minutes trying to shove a huge 3 wick candle into that pumpkin –poor guy! When Laura turned around he was down on one knee and the pumpkin carving said, “Will you marry me?” The moment was so perfect, Laura couldn’t have asked for anything more and said yes! Their wedding day was just as perfect and full of love, fun and laughter. Their ceremony was at St. Mary’s Church in Stillwater, Minnesota and their barn reception followed at in River Falls, Wisconsin. Here are some of my favorites from their day!
